Hello & Welcome back to Where Feng Shui Meets Fashion!  I’m Laura aka The Feng Shui Lady ®️ and I specialize in Feng Shui for designing and curating our homes and wardrobe.  In the words of Developmental Biologist and Epigenetic’s expert Bruce Lipton, “You change the Container, you change the Contents.” In this analogy, your home and wardrobe are your containers and you are the contents.  What you surround yourself with and how you adorn yourself actually have an energetic impact.  Epigenetic speaks to this and I am endlessly fascinated with uncovering ways to create the most supportive set and setting for people to thrive in.  I’m excited to be having conversations with different experts and guests with many different vantage points and areas of expertise around wellness themes. If this is also your jam, I invite you to tune in and zen out!  Also please subscribe, like and share.

In Today’s episode, I want to share some energy and Space Clearing tips to help you navigate Thanksgiving along with all your holiday gatherings.  Many of us gather with Family whether it’s our family of origin, in-laws or chosen family as in Friendsgiving.  When we gather with different personalities sometimes tensions can be stirred.  The wine is flowing freely and opinions and tensions can bubble and come to a boil.

This year in particular might be tricky for a lot of folks.  If that’s you let me suggest some ways to create a more neutral environment and also ways to clear the air afterwards if things do go south.

Before your guests arrive try setting an intention or prayer for a positive and cheerful evening.  In regards to your attire and decor, may I suggest avoiding the color red or any red spectrum colors which while exciting and stimulating, can activate peoples fiery side. Instead of red roses opt for Yellow or White flowers.  You can also choose softer hues and earth tones in your overall decor to reduce potential tension. Play soothing background music. And If you have a diffuser, you can try diffusing a gentle calming essential oil blend to set the tone.

Seating arrangements are super important.  In Feng Shui we love round and Oval tables because there are no sharp corners.  Sharp corners can create Sha Chi or piercing energy. If you do have a square or rectangular table, then a table cloth can soften those corners.

If you have the option to seat folks at a round or oval table that can help smooth the edges so to speak.  If possible seat everyone with a view of the entrance of the room, whether they are facing the entrance or there’s a mirror reflecting it in their field of vision.  As much as possible we try to seat folks in the power position in Feng Shui and this means not having your back to the door or at least having a view of the entrance even if it’s just a reflection in the mirror.  The host should always be in the power position since they are the nucleus of the event.

Obviously don’t seat people with conflicting points of view across from each other or near each other if possible. Listen If in spite of your best efforts things do get heated, once the event is over, you can Smudge with sage. I also recommend placing small bowls of salt in the center or corners of the rooms where friction took place for about 12 hours this helps absorb all the negative energy.  Again play some soothing music while you clean up and make sure to dispose of the salt either in the garbage or toilet.  Be sure to  keep your pets and kids from consuming any of it.  I also highly recommend spritzing with a soothing essential oil like lavender or geranium to soften the energy and offset the element of fire with water after saging.

We will be in the thick of Mercury Retrograde during Thanksgiving so our words and intentions have a higher likelihood of being misinterpreted.  It’s not the best time to broach sensitive topics so stick to simple pleasantries and congenial subject matter when possible. Let’s do all we can to be the voice of reason this season!  I’m wishing for a peaceful and cheerful holiday for us all and Many Blessings!

Next week I will have Psychic Medium Susan Schueler joining me so I invite you to tune in and Zen Out.  Cheers & Ciao for now!
